Cable management and site equipment

Cable management and site equipment

Two related things, kept deliberately separate because they are often confused. Cable tray for containing cable, and access ladders and scaffolding for working at height on live networks.

Overview

Overview

A note on terminology first, because it costs people money. In this catalogue, ladders means access ladders, the equipment a technician climbs. Cable ladder and cable tray are containment systems that carry cable along a wall or ceiling. They are unrelated products and we list them separately so nobody orders the wrong one.

Our fibreglass ladders matter more than their price suggests. Fibreglass does not conduct, which is why it is the specified material for work anywhere near live conductors. We supplied HT and LT fibreglass ladders to Eko DisCo, which is the most demanding buyer of this equipment in the market because their crews work live.

We also supply aluminium ladders for general access where there is no electrical risk, scaffolding for extended work at height, and cable tray for containment runs in plant rooms, risers and industrial ceilings.

Product range

What we supply

Containment and access, listed separately on purpose.

Cable tray

Perforated and ladder type tray for carrying cable along walls, ceilings and risers, with bends, tees, risers and couplers. This is containment, not an access ladder.

Containment · with fittings

Fibreglass ladders

Non conductive step and extension ladders for work on or near live conductors. The specified material for HT and LT electrical work, and what we supplied to Eko DisCo.

Non conductive · HT and LT

Aluminium ladders

Lighter general purpose step and extension ladders for access work where there is no electrical risk. Do not substitute these for fibreglass on live work.

General access

Scaffolding

Modular scaffolding for extended work at height on installations, substations and building services.

Modular
Applications

Where it is used

Live line and network maintenance

Fibreglass ladders for crews working on or near energised HT and LT conductors.

Plant rooms and risers

Cable tray carrying multiple cable runs neatly and accessibly through buildings and plant.

Installation at height

Scaffolding and ladders for substation, lighting and building services installation work.

Heights, load classes and tray widths are confirmed per item at quotation. Aluminium ladders conduct electricity and must not be used for work on or near live conductors. If the work is electrical, specify fibreglass.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

No, and confusing them is a common and expensive ordering mistake. Cable ladder and cable tray are containment systems that carry cable. An access ladder is what a person climbs. We list them separately for exactly this reason.
Fibreglass does not conduct electricity. For any work on or near live conductors it is the correct material and aluminium is a serious hazard. Aluminium is fine for general non electrical access.
Yes. We supplied HT and LT fibreglass ladders to Eko DisCo, whose crews work on live networks.
Yes, bends, tees, risers, couplers and fixings. Ordering tray without fittings is the other common way a containment order stalls on site.
Yes, modular scaffolding for supply. Tell us the working height and duration and we will price it.
